A Little About My Services:

Hello! My name is Odessa Bates, owner of Doula Odessa & Birth Services. I’m based in Western Massachusetts and have been in the health and wellness field for over 18 years. As a Certified Birth Doula, Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Placenta Encapsulation Specialist, Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, and a former counselor with a Master’s Degree in Women’s Studies, I am trained and educated in a wide range of topics surrounding prenatal, birth, and postpartum experiences. My goal as your placenta encapsulation specialist in this magical time is to support you and your family to have an experience that is uplifting, empowering, and joyful. I trained and certified with Woman's Choice Perinatal Services.  I also received my full COVID vaccination on 2/12/2021.

With my extensive training, experience, and extended professional networking community, I can tailor my support to your specific circumstances. I believe everyone should have a supportive, unbiased, and an educated placenta encapsulation specialist. I hope you believe in that too as I am a part of the birth community to ensure that every person I assist has a chance to experience a memorable birth! I encourage you to take the time to look at the services I provide, along with my clients' recommendations (on my website below), and contact me to see if we would make a positive placenta encapsulation team as you will remember your child's birth for the rest of your life.

Placenta Encapsulation is the process of preparing the birthing person’s placenta after the birth of their baby by dehydrating, powdering, and placing it into capsules for the birther to ingest. The purpose of ingestion of the placenta may promote the reintroduction of beneficial hormones, proteins, and other nutrients to their body to help restore physical and emotional balance, prevent or lessen the risk of “baby blues” that may lead to postpartum depression, increase breast-milk production, shorten healing time, increase energy levels, and provide an over-all feeling of wellness to aid in the transition between pregnancy and the early postpartum period.
