GENTLE BEGINNINGS offers pregnant and new mothers gentle treatments based on ancient traditional wisdom to support you during the joys and the challenges of pregnancy and in your postpartum days. I provide nourishing care to help you regain your physical and emotional strength by offering prenatal and postnatal massage, warming abdominal care, bengkung belly binding, placenta alchemy, ceremony and many more goodies for body and mind.
Mirjam Heemskerk works with women in Amsterdam and surroundings.
Mirjam first learned to work with the placenta in 2014 from a befriended doula colleague. She did a lot of additional research and reading to complete her knowledge and skills. In 2015 she started an online training with IPEN: Independent Placenta Encapsulation Network, where she concluded several modules of the training. In November 2016 she attended an the In Person Basic and PRO Training with IPPA International Placenta and Postpartum Association to become a registered certified Placenta Encapsulator. She aimes at being certified mid 2017. Up to now (April 2017) Mirjam has had requests from more than 70 new mothers to work with their placenta. She is dedicated to achieve the best health for a new mother, so she works according the highest standards of hygiene, care and respect for this wonderful organ.
